Stage 1 :: Concept & Planning
The Concept & Planning stage is one of the most important in the entire process. This is where we sit down with our clients and define EVERYTHING involved in the project - from initial wants and needs, to target audience and capability descriptions, content and materials lists, marketing messages and campaigns, team members, contact information, budgets, and timeframes. Once this information is gathered, we are able to set the goals of the project and establish the priority levles of desired features.
It's usually a fairly intensive process, but we try and keep it as exciting and fun as possible. If you haven't already noticed from this site, we like to let our personalities show a bit, and try not to take ourselves as seriously as we take our work!

Stage 2 :: Engineering
The Engineering stage is where we design many elements of the underlying structure of the website. Our Information Architects skillfully figure out the most meaningful, clear and intuitive way of organizing and presenting the content, based on the needs and desired response of the target audineces.
The result of this process is the Site Architecture. From this, we are able to develop the site-wide navigation system, which defines how the audience will interact with the site. We outline all of the procedures, tasks and processes facing the audiences and determime the most appropriate choices or options to provide them with. The end result is the Functional Design.
Based on the functionality requirements, we can determine the best technical solutions to implement, which are outlined in the Technical Architecture. It is important to choose the right tools and make the optimal technical decisions in order to guarantee that the development will move forward smoothly and that the end solution will be technically sound and scalable.

Stage 3 :: Creative & Visual Design
With a solid foundation now in place to work with, we enter the Creative & Visual Design stage. This is probably the most anticipated stage, since the visual appearance of the site emerges.
Contrary to popular belief, this stage involves more than just dressing up pages and making the colors match the clients' logos. We work extremely hard to produce successful designs that not only clearly communicate our clients' marketing messages and promote usability, but also produce the intended perception and interpretation of the target audiences.
Hey, how can you control each individual's perception? That doesn't seem possible.
Well, you can't completely control it, but you can use visual design to influence it as much as possible, with form, color, layout and typography. All of these elements come into play when developing the Visual Design.

Stage 4 :: Prototyping
We include the Prototype stage when sites or projects have intensive functionality and usability requirements. We build a working prototype of the site, prior to developing the backend applications, to validate the integrity of our previously developed Site Architecture, Functional Design and User Interface.
Ok, but what's the point in that? For our clients, it means that they get to test drive the system before it's built, and make sure that it works the way they want it to. For us, it allows us to deliver almost exactly what the client wants, while still remaining within our budget and on schedule.

Stage 5 :: Development
Once the usability and functionality is in place, our developers begin building the applications, tuning the databases and doing everything else that makes the magical processes on the site work.
We try to keep our clients away from the development environment - which can be an overwhelmingly obscure place for those that do not actually inhabit it. The glow of monitors reflecting off of an army of empty Mountain Dew cans, the fevored-sound of "clacking" keys on a keyboard, the mezmorizing "hum" of CPU cooling fans and a sudden glimpse of an unshaven, unbathed developer can be a disturbing experience, and is not recommended. Actually, our insurance policy strictly prohibits it.

Stage 6 :: Testing & Quality Assurance
When the backend applications are complete, and we clean up the development team, we conduct rigorous user testing and quality assurance measures on all aspects of the site - from basic contact forms to heavy process loads on the servers to ensure that the end result will be ready for release.
We usually replenish the stock of Mountain Dew for our developers at this point, because it tends to refresh their senses and give them a second wind to tackle any testing issues that may arise.

Stage 7 :: Launch & Rollout
The day everyone has been waiting for! Once we have completely tested the site, and addressed any major issues, we move the site live, for public access. Along with our client, we carefully monitor the performance and response to the site, and make sure everything is working properly.
And then we party.

Stage 8 :: Maintenance & Reviews
With the site live, there is still work to be done. We offer scheduled maintenance agreements, but sometimes things happen that you don't plan for. We don't want our clients to feel like they're stranded if something unexpected happens with their site, which is why we work to maintain an ongoing relationship. It helps to keep the site maintenance under control and makes planning and implementing new functionality and features more efficient and cost-effective when the need arises.
We also provide quarterly review sessions where we compare the original goals with the overall response, address any pending issues, and work on planning for upcoming phases. We don't like to see sites neglected or abandoned, so we work hard with our clients to help keep them working!

Stage 9 :: Phase 2 Planning
Early on, we found the key to our success was creating positive long-term relationships with our clients. That has continued to be our focus. A successful project helps insure a successful client. Successful clients are why we are still here. Your success is our focus.
With our continued involvement in the project, the learning curve at the beginning of new phases is greatly reduced. This allows us to produce the new phases efficiently, rapidly, and cost-effectively for our clients. It just makes sense.
If you like the way everything sounds and want to discuss teaming up with us on a project, please contact us.
